Our Story

A family-built lighting company rooted in craftsmanship and trust.

K Legacy Lighting was founded by Ethan and Allie Knowles with a desire to build something that reflects the values we believe should guide both work and life.

After Ethan graduated from Texas A&M and Allie from the University of Oklahoma, their path led to a season of ministry and service in East Texas, working closely with mentors, serving communities, and helping cultivate spaces where families could rest, gather, and be known. Those years shaped a conviction we still build on: work is most meaningful when it's done in service to others.

Later, Ethan's years as a firefighter and paramedic created an unexpected connection to the work we do today. Long hours on ladders and roofs made those places feel familiar rather than intimidating, and that comfort led to something far less urgent but still meaningful: helping homeowners with their holiday lighting and sparing them their own ladder-and-roof adventures. What began as a practical way to serve people revealed itself as something more. Lighting shapes how a place feels. A thoughtfully lit property becomes more welcoming, more peaceful, more usable after dark. After serving hundreds of properties, we saw the fuller opportunity: to bring that same beauty and safety to a home year-round through permanent landscape and architectural lighting.

Zach spent three years in Tennessee as a professional songwriter, and much of the rest of his time with tools in his hands, building and fixing on his own property and for anyone nearby who needed it. He and Jaycee started their family there, and decided to move back to Texas to raise their children and build a legacy alongside family. He brings a craftsman's hands and a designer's eye to this work. Two roads, and the skills we picked up along the way now belong to the same work.

For our family, this work connects to what we care about most. We love hospitality. We love gathering with people we love. We love the simple joy of being outdoors in spaces that feel alive. Today the company is family-run in the most literal sense, two brothers and their families, running crews and keeping the standard consistent from the first walk of a property to the last fixture aimed, and we get to help other families feel that same rest and welcome in their own homes.

The Meaning Behind the Name

The "K" carries two meanings.

The first is Kingdom. We believe that all work ultimately belongs to the Lord, and that our role is not to build our own kingdoms, but to faithfully cultivate what has been entrusted to us as participants in His restoration of flourishing in the world under the reign of King Jesus.

In a very literal sense, our work is about bringing light into dark spaces. But for us, the meaning runs deeper than fixtures and wire. We believe the way a business operates can also bring light, through the way people are treated, the quality of work delivered, and the integrity behind every decision.

The second meaning is Knowles, our family name. As a family, we aim to steward what God has entrusted to us, cultivate goodness wherever we work, and build a heritage of Kingdom faithfulness for generations.

Our Mission

To design and install high-quality outdoor lighting that brings beauty, security, and peace to homes and properties, creating outdoor spaces that invite hospitality, rest, gathering, and confidence after dark.

Our Vision

To build a lighting company rooted in excellence, trust, and faithful stewardship, using the work of illuminating physical spaces as a platform for carrying light into places of deeper need.

We seek not only to push back darkness through beauty and craftsmanship, but to operate in a way that reflects hope, integrity, and care in every relationship. Through how we serve customers, cultivate flourishing among employees, partner with others, and give generously, K Legacy Lighting exists to extend light beyond the work itself, into the lives of people and the spaces where it is most needed.

The Values That Guide Our Work

Not slogans. Commitments.

These values shape how we operate, how we treat people, and how we approach the work itself.

Clarity

Clear communication builds confidence. We communicate expectations, pricing, timelines, and follow-through honestly so clients always know what to expect. Confusion is usually avoidable, and we work intentionally to reduce it.

Trustworthiness

Trust is the foundation of a relationship-driven business. We aim to be reliable, accountable, and worthy of confidence in every commitment we make. When something goes wrong, we address it honestly and make it right.

Kindness

We treat customers, partners, and every property with care and respect. The experience of working with us should feel just as positive as the finished result. We are guests on every property we touch, and we work to leave it better than we found it, both physically and relationally.

Excellence

Details matter. The work no one sees receives the same care as the work everyone admires. Excellence is not a marketing claim. It is a discipline practiced in both the visible and invisible parts of the job.

Competence

Clients trust us with their homes and properties. We honor that trust by knowing our craft, using quality materials, and executing the work correctly and safely. Competence is not optional. It is the minimum requirement of the trust placed in us.

A Commitment to Stewardship

At its core, K Legacy Lighting is built on the idea of stewardship.

Stewardship of the opportunities entrusted to us. Stewardship of the properties we work on. Stewardship of the relationships we build with clients, partners, and our community.

We believe the best businesses are built not on short-term extraction, but on long-term trust. When people feel cared for, when the work is done well, and when the experience reflects genuine professionalism, the results take care of themselves.

Our hope is to build something durable: a company that supports families, serves clients faithfully, and grows in a way that allows us to give generously as the work expands.

Our hope is simple. To build something that honors the Lord, serves people well, and leaves a legacy that blesses others and cultivates flourishing for generations to come.
