We design, install, and maintain custom low-voltage landscape lighting systems for homes across North Texas. Every project starts with an on-site consultation. Types of Landscape Lighting
The techniques we use, and when each one makes sense.
Most properties use a combination of these. During the consultation we walk the yard and decide which technique fits each feature.
Uplighting
A fixture set at ground level aimed up at a tree trunk, a stone column, or a section of facade. It is the workhorse of landscape lighting and what gives a home depth after dark. Beam spread and aim matter more than wattage, so we return to the property at night to fine-tune the aim on each fixture.
Downlighting and moonlighting
Fixtures mounted high in a mature tree, aimed down through the branches. The light falls across the lawn and driveway in soft patterns that read like natural moonlight. It works well over patios, seating areas, and long front walks where ground fixtures would be in the way.
Path lighting
Low fixtures spaced along walkways, driveways, and garden beds to light the surface people actually walk on. Spacing is what makes or breaks the result. Fixtures placed too close together read as a repetitive line, and fixtures placed too far apart leave dark gaps. We space for gently overlapping pools of light rather than evenly measured intervals.
Wall washing and grazing
Washing lays an even sheet of light across a broad surface like stucco or a painted wall. Grazing sets the fixture close to the surface so the light rakes across it and pulls out the texture in stone, brick, and board-and-batten. Same fixture family, very different result.
Silhouette and shadow lighting
Placing the fixture behind a plant throws it into silhouette against the wall behind it. Placing it in front casts the shadow onto that wall instead. Both are quiet ways to add interest to a flat elevation without adding more brightness.
Outdoor living and hardscape lighting
Lighting built into steps, retaining walls, seat walls, kitchens, and pool surrounds. The goal is usable light where people gather and safe footing on every step change, with the fixtures themselves out of sight.
Water feature and pool lighting
Pools, ponds, and fountains reflect whatever is around them, so the lighting around the water often matters more than lighting in it. We light the trees and structures that reflect on the surface, then add fixtures at the water only where they earn their place.
Security and safety lighting
Well-lit approaches, side yards, and entries do more for security than a single harsh floodlight, and they look far better. We layer lower-output fixtures across the areas that matter so there are no dark pockets and no glare in anyone's eyes.

Larger projects often receive a live nighttime demonstration, where we set temporary fixtures on the property so you can see how the design will look after dark. Other projects receive a rendering or a design presentation instead. Which approach fits your project depends on the scope and the property, and we will let you know what to expect during the design conversation.

Initial phone conversation
We start with a call to understand the property, what you are hoping for, and whether we are a good fit.

Complimentary consultation
We meet at the property in daylight, tour it with you, talk through how you use the space, review utilities, and take photos and notes.

Design development
We develop the lighting design around the property, the architecture, and the way you actually live outside.
- 04
Demonstration or rendering
When appropriate, we present a nighttime demonstration, a rendering, or a design presentation. Larger projects often receive a demonstration. Some projects use renderings instead.

Written proposal
You receive a written proposal with options at a few different scopes so you can choose what fits.
- 06
Approval and deposit
A 50 percent deposit is due on approval. We accept Zelle, QuickBooks, and check.
- 07
Installation
Installation typically runs from two days to about three weeks depending on scope. Larger projects can be phased.
- 08
Final aiming and walkthrough
We return after dark for final aiming and walk the finished system with you.

Documentation
You receive a wiring diagram and a video of your project at completion.

Ongoing care

- Every project is custom, so pricing depends on the size of your property, what you want lit, and the scope of the system. Projects typically start at $2,500, with most landing around $15,000. Larger or more complex properties can run higher depending on scope. We come out for a free consultation, walk the property with you, and put together a written proposal with options at a few different scopes so you can choose what fits. - What kind of fixtures do you use?
- Low-voltage fixtures only, in a warm 3000K color temperature that stays consistent across the property. Materials are selected for the needs of the property and to hold up in Texas weather. We generally do not install customer-purchased fixtures, and we do not install solar lighting.
- Will my lights come on automatically?
- Yes. We install astronomical timers or app-controlled transformers so your lights come on at sunset and go off when you want. App control and smart-home integration are available if you want them.
- How long does an installation take?
- Most installations run from two days to about three weeks depending on the size and complexity of the property. We explain the schedule before work begins, and larger projects can be phased.
- What happens after the install is finished?
- We walk the property with you at night so you can see the finished system, and you receive a wiring diagram and a video of your project for your records.
- How does the consultation and payment process work?
- We respond within 24 hours. The complimentary consultation starts with a phone conversation and then an on-site visit with Ethan. Once you approve the proposal, a 50% deposit reserves your spot on the schedule. We accept Zelle, QuickBooks, and check.
- What if my existing system needs work?
- We evaluate existing low-voltage systems individually. Some can be repaired or upgraded, others may need a more extensive redesign. See our landscape lighting repair page for details.
