Architectural lighting is different from landscape lighting. Landscape lights the yard. Architectural lights the house. Done well, it pulls out the details that make the home distinctive: stone, columns, gables, arches, a good porch.
We choose narrow-beam fixtures where the elevation calls for it and wider wash fixtures across stone, using warm-white light so brick reads like brick and stone reads like stone. Every fixture is aimed, shielded, and adjusted after dark on install day so nothing glares back at the street.

How It Works
Straightforward process, start to finish.

Initial phone conversation
We start with a call to understand the property, what you are hoping for, and whether we are a good fit.
- 02
Complimentary consultation
We meet at the property in daylight, tour it with you, talk through how you use the space, review utilities, and take photos and notes.
- 03
Design development
We develop the lighting design around the property, the architecture, and the way you actually live outside.
- 04
Demonstration or rendering
When appropriate, we present a nighttime demonstration, a rendering, or a design presentation. Larger projects often receive a demonstration. Some projects use renderings instead.
- 05
Written proposal
You receive a written proposal with options at a few different scopes so you can choose what fits.
- 06
Approval and deposit
A 50 percent deposit is due on approval. We accept Zelle, QuickBooks, and check.
- 07
Installation
Installation typically runs from two days to about three weeks depending on scope. Larger projects can be phased.
- 08
Final aiming and walkthrough
We return after dark for final aiming and walk the finished system with you.
- 09
Documentation
You receive a wiring diagram and a video of your project at completion.
- 10
Ongoing care
Enroll in K Legacy Longevity, our bi-annual maintenance plan, and we return each spring and fall.

- Landscape lighting lights the yard, trees, and gardens. Architectural lighting lights the house itself, columns, stone, gables, and rooflines. Most K Legacy jobs include both.
- Will architectural lighting glare into windows?
- Not when it's done right. We use shielded fixtures and aim every one after dark on install day so the light lands on the house, not in a neighbor's window or bedroom.
- What color of light do you use?
- Warm white for almost everything. It flatters brick, stone, and wood the way homeowners want it to look.
- Can you light a two-story home?
- Yes. We use narrow-beam fixtures and the right output level to reach second-story gables and dormers without washing out the first floor.
- Do you work on new construction?
- Yes. If we're brought in during construction we can plan for sleeves and stub-outs, which makes the finish install cleaner.
