Christmas lights installed on a North Texas home

Christmas Light Timing

When should you book Christmas light installation in Texas?

Short answer: earlier than you think. Here's how our season actually works, and why reaching out for a bid sooner matters more than the scheduling of your actual install date.

Texas homeowners often assume Christmas lighting is a December decision. In practice, the properties that get the install date and design they want are usually the ones who reach out in late summer, long before anyone else is thinking about the holidays. We install holiday lighting in Grayson County and select parts of Collin County.

The short version

  • Our install season: runs roughly September through early December.
  • Our takedown season: mid-January through the end of January.
  • Best time to get a bid: September, even if you want your lights installed later in the season.

Why booking early matters more than installing early

You don't have to have your lights up in September to benefit from reaching out then. What matters is getting on our calendar. As the season progresses, available install dates fill up, and once they're gone it becomes difficult to fit new clients in, even for a smaller property. Reaching out early secures your preferred window later, even if that window is in late November or early December.

When you can actually have lights installed

Our setup calendar runs from as early as September through the first week or two of December. If you want your home decorated for the full holiday stretch, an earlier install date extends how long you get to enjoy it. If you'd rather wait closer to the holidays, that's an option too, as long as your bid and scheduling conversation happens well ahead of your preferred date.

Why some homeowners choose to install early

Beyond simply securing a spot on the calendar, an earlier install means your lights are ready well before Thanksgiving gatherings, neighborhood displays, or early holiday photos, without the pressure of a last-minute scramble.

Takedown timing

Takedowns take place in mid-January, with all removals completed by the end of the month. This keeps your property looking clean and seasonal without lights lingering well past the holidays.

What this means for your schedule

If you're hoping for Christmas lights this year, the best move is starting the conversation in September, regardless of when you actually want the install to happen. Bids and scheduling with both returning and new clients typically take place during that window, and dates fill quickly as the season goes on.
