Path & Garden Lighting

Get from the driveway to the door without watching your feet.

Path lighting is often spaced too close together and pointed the wrong way. We take a different approach, using quality fixtures with the right spread, spaced so the light layers across the walk instead of stacking bright circles down it.

Garden lighting works the same way. Low, warm, and pointed at the plants that deserve it. Wiring is buried, transformers are sized right, and the whole system comes on with the sun.

How It Works

Straightforward process, start to finish.

    Initial phone conversation

    We start with a call to understand the property, what you are hoping for, and whether we are a good fit.

  2. 02

    Complimentary consultation

    We meet at the property in daylight, tour it with you, talk through how you use the space, review utilities, and take photos and notes.

  3. 03

    Design development

    We develop the lighting design around the property, the architecture, and the way you actually live outside.

  4. 04

    Demonstration or rendering

    When appropriate, we present a nighttime demonstration, a rendering, or a design presentation. Larger projects often receive a demonstration. Some projects use renderings instead.

  5. 05

    Written proposal

    You receive a written proposal with options at a few different scopes so you can choose what fits.

  6. 06

    Approval and deposit

    A 50 percent deposit is due on approval. We accept Zelle, QuickBooks, and check.

  7. 07

    Installation

    Installation typically runs from two days to about three weeks depending on scope. Larger projects can be phased.

  8. 08

    Final aiming and walkthrough

    We return after dark for final aiming and walk the finished system with you.

  9. 09

    Documentation

    You receive a wiring diagram and a video of your project at completion.

  10. 10

    Ongoing care

    Enroll in K Legacy Longevity, our bi-annual maintenance plan, and we return each spring and fall.

How far apart should path lights be spaced?
It depends on the fixture and the property. We space lights so light layers instead of hot-spotting, rather than following a one-size-fits-all rule.
Will path lights work if my walks are already installed?
Yes. We install path lighting on existing walkways all the time. Wiring runs alongside the walk in bed lines and is buried.
What fixtures do you use?
We recommend quality fixtures with warm light, selected to stand up to Texas heat, freezes, sprinklers, and mowers.
Can I add path lighting to my existing system?
Usually yes, if the transformer has capacity. We'll check the load and either add zones or upsize the transformer.
How much does path lighting cost?
Every project is custom, so pricing depends on the size of your property, what you want lit, and the scope of the system. Projects typically start at $2,500, with most landing around $15,000. Larger or more complex properties can run higher depending on scope. We come out for a free consultation, walk the property with you, and put together a written proposal with options at a few different scopes so you can choose what fits.
